Kansas City Wildlands has brought together partners and stakeholders to develop a Conservation Opportunity Area (COA) action plan in the Kansas City area in accordance with the Missouri Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy (CWCS), and has implemented conservation actions identified in the plan.
Project Assistance & Partnership Opportunities
Funding
The Upper Blue River COA Partnership recently adopted an 18-month action plan and is seeking funding sources for the projects identified in the plan.
Equipment
Kansas City WildLands (KCWL) is currently on the ground implementing conservation actions identified in the COA's action plan. KCWL hosts citizen volunteer workdays. Equipment needed for these workdays includes: * Commercial grade by-pass loppers (one and one-half inch diameter cut minimum – one dozen) * Commercial grade folding pruning saws (two dozen) * Bow saws (one dozen) * Work gloves (leather or leather palmed - six dozen pairs ) * Safety goggles (two dozen) * Insect repellent (Deep Woods Off or equivalent - two cases) * Water-based marking paint (one case) * High-quality GPS unit * Forestry flame torch
